Bottles and cases as separate products
List a single bottle and a case of the same drink as two products, each with its own price and count. Shopkeepa has no variants, so this keeps both honest.
A bottle of spirits is worth many times a bottle of drink, and that changes how a liquor store has to count. Shopkeepa helps you track each bottle and case, record where stock goes and spot what is missing sooner.
High-value bottles are an easy target, and you only find out something is missing at the monthly count.
You sell bottles and cases of the same drink, and the two counts do not agree.
Fast-selling brands run out on the weekend, when you cannot get a delivery.
Staff handle expensive stock all day, and you cannot see what they sold or gave away.

Record breakage, theft or loss, and corrections as stock movements. A pattern of losses on one product stands out in the history.
Scan the barcode with a phone camera or a Bluetooth or USB scanner. It finds products already in your own list.
Set a minimum on the brands people ask for by name. One reminder when stock crosses it, then it lands on the restock list.
Cashiers can sell without seeing costs, profit or settings. Voids and refunds stay on record.
Weekend favourites under their minimum are already listed. Order before the supplier cut-off.
Scan each case and add the quantity with Stock In. Bottle counts are checked separately.
Ring up each sale and record how it was paid. Each sale takes the right product off the right count.
Count the premium bottles, enter the number and let Shopkeepa record any difference.
Check the day's sales split by payment type against the till.
A case of twelve and a single bottle are one drink and two products. Shopkeepa does not convert between units, so "Rum white 750 ml" and "Rum white 750 ml, case of 12" each have their own stock number and their own price.
When a case is delivered, add it to the case product with Stock In. If you open a case to sell bottles, reduce the case count by one and add twelve to the bottle count, recording both as corrections. It takes a moment, and your counts stay true. Each bottle size is also its own product: 200 ml, 375 ml, 750 ml and 1 litre are four lines.
| Product | In stock | Minimum | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rum white 750 ml | 5 | 12 | Reorder |
| Rum white 750 ml, case of 12 | 3 | 2 | OK |
| Stout 330 ml, case of 24 | 0 | 2 | Out |
Name products with brand, type, size and pack, so search finds them and similar bottles do not get mixed up. Naming and organising products has more.
Spirits are small, valuable and easy to sell on. Shrinkage hurts a liquor store faster than most. A few bottles a week can wipe out a month's profit on a fast seller, and it rarely feels like much at the time.
Shopkeepa cannot stop a bottle leaving. What it does is make the gap visible. Stock is a ledger of movements, and each removal has a reason: sale, damaged, theft or loss, correction or count. If a product keeps showing losses, you can see which one, and compare that to your counts. Counting the top shelf often, even a few products a day, catches problems early. Reduce stock loss and how to do a stock count cover the habits.
Rules about who may buy alcohol, licences and opening hours are set locally. Shopkeepa does not check age or enforce them. Check your licence conditions with the authority in your country. Shopkeepa also does not track expiry dates, which matters little for spirits but more for beer and mixers, so rotate those by hand.
List them as separate products. When you open a case, record the change as corrections on both, so the case count goes down and the bottle count goes up.
No software does. It records every stock movement with a reason, supports quick counts and keeps voids on record, so you notice losses sooner.
